UL certification

Before the first shipment, the UL certified products will be sent to the factory for examination by the provincial authorized China Import and Export Commodity Inspection Bureau (CCIB) authorized by UL. You have to follow up every year.

 UL certification inspection rules
The inspection of the UL inspector is basically a mechanical operation. According to the different products, the inspector's inspection basis is the bulletin (Bulletin), the detailed rules (Procedure), the FUII (if it is included in the detailed rules) and the UL standard (if there is a requirement in FUII).
If the inspector visits the factory, the factory is producing UL products or has an inventory of UL products. The inspector will take samples in one of the following ways:
1. extract parts from the production line plus a complete product extracted from the warehouse.
2. extract all the components from the warehouse plus the complete products on the production line.
3. a complete product is extracted from the warehouse for disassembly.
The specific number of samples depends on rules, FUII (tracking test instructions), SAP (standard attached pages) or direct commands from UL laboratories. Inspectors do not always inspect all products, but they will try to test all product categories or models in a year or at least two years.
Generally speaking, the requirements for the factory production system by UL are not too high. It is only required to measure the equipment once a year, save the factory's own inspection records, and have some control measures for the unmatched products.
At the time of inspection, the site representative (UL inspector) will focus its attention mainly on the product itself. They will check the structure, parts and assembly of the product one by one according to the above inspection. For parts involving product safety, the general rules will specify the requirements for UL certification and the manufacturer and model. In general, the detailed rules will specify the raw material and size requirements for the plastic parts such as the shell and cover. The on-site representative will check the UL markings specified in the above and detailed rules.
In addition, if the detailed rules or FUII or standards require field testing of the product, the site representative will require the factory inspector to do the corresponding tests, and the site representative will be the witness at the side. If the sample is also required to be sent to UL for tracking test, the factory should make the corresponding sample with the inspector, write the sample label by the inspector, provide the address and seal the sample, and send it to the corresponding UL laboratory by the factory.

If the products produced in the factory are fully in conformity with the requirements of the UL corresponding inspection standards, and there are no other violations of the tracking service agreement, the inspectors will issue a tracking inspection report (Inspection Report); the factory representative should sign the report after confirming the accuracy of its content; one inspection will be completed. The inspector will issue a change notice (Variation Notice) and take corresponding measures according to the specific circumstances when the inspection is not in conformity with the inspection standard.
For unauthorized products using UL markers, the inspector will require the removal of the UL mark; for the product that does not meet the UL requirements, the inspector will require the factory to remove the UL mark or rework to meet the requirements; if the factory disagrees with the above treatment opinion, the UL mark can be retained temporarily, but the shipment must be stopped and the inspector will take the case. Notify the corresponding laboratory to make a reply by UL to decide whether or not to retain the UL mark; if only a few minor problems do not affect the safety of the product, the inspector will make a temporary decision and report it to the corresponding laboratory; if there are some obvious standard errors, such as a typing error or a unit error. It does not affect the conformity of factory products, but as a document processing of UL, the inspector will issue a notice of change. In general, unless it is the responsibility of the UL company, the inspector will ask the factory to explain to the corresponding laboratory the non - conforming, and the UL will respond according to your explanation.
Of course, the inspector's judgment is only temporary, and the final decision is in UL laboratories. If the factory disagrees with the practice of the inspection, it can be fully reflected in the corresponding laboratory. At this time, the inspector is obliged to provide the corresponding contacts and contact methods. After confirmation of the contents recorded in the notice of change, the factory representative shall sign the notice.
UL authentication service project
UL's product certification and testing services can be classified into column names, accreditation and classification.
1) column name (LISTED): generally, the names are only applicable to complete products and all kinds of devices and devices that are replaced or installed on the site by qualified personnel. All kinds of products belonging to the UL name service include household appliances, medical equipment, computers, commercial equipment, and all kinds of electrical products that function in the building. Such as distribution systems, fuses, wires, switches and other electrical components. Products named by UL can usually be marked with column names on UL for each product. 2) accreditation (Recognized): Accreditation Service is a project in UL service, and the products identified can only be used as components and raw materials on UL name, classification or other approved products. The approved products are not complete in structure or have certain restrictions on their usage to ensure the expected safety performance. In most cases, the tracking services of recognized products belong to the R class. The approved products belonging to the L class include electronic wire (AVLV2), processing wire (ZKLU2), wiring harness (ZPFW2), aluminum wire (DVVR2), and metal flexible tube (DXUZ2). 3) classification (Classification): grading services only evaluate the specific hazards of the product, or evaluate other standards other than the UL standard (including internationally recognized standards, such as IEC and ISO standards, etc.). In general, most graded products are not products used by consumers, but products used in industry or commerce. The grading mark in the UL logo indicates that the product has certain restrictions and prescribed limits when it is identified by UL. For example, for chemicals such as solvents used in industry, the scope of fires that can occur at the point of ignition is evaluated only. The classification services of some products are the same as the name service, but generally only one aspect or a number of aspects of the product are evaluated. For example, in the United States, the medical X ray diagnostic apparatus should comply with the United States law and the provisions relating to radiation emission and beam accuracy throughout the country, but because the UL only takes X rays as a grading product, so only Its mechanical properties, electrical properties and other non radiative properties are evaluated.
4) multicolumn name, multiple accreditation, or multiple Grading Service: when an applicant of an UL has obtained the above listed, approved or graded service, its product is produced in the name of another company to meet the needs of the sale, and can apply for multiple names, multiple accreditation or multiple grading services, in which case the name is obtained. A manufacturer, accredited or graded, is allowed to use the name of another company in the list of products, but the product must be in conformity with the original name, approval or grading product in addition to the company code, the product code, or the other features that the UL company considers acceptable.
5) "AL" listing, accreditation or grading service: if a UL applicant does not want to obtain a listing, accreditation or grading service in the name of his own company, he may apply for a name, approval or classification in the name of another business name (usually the retailer or wholesaler), called the "AL" listing, accreditation or grading service. Its difference from multiple listing, multiple accreditation or multiple classification services is that the applicant is not a celebrity.
6) system certification service: as one of the members of the International Accreditation Committee, UL is widely involved in ISO9000 quality system certification, ISO14000 environmental protection certification, QS9000 automotive industry quality system certification and AS9000 aircraft industry quality system certification service.
